Description
Today I have a field report that is probably also symbolic of the consequences of the corona crisis. We can look forward to seeing what lies ahead. We can anticipate it:
Our daughter has lived on Crete for around 18 years and runs a diving school there. We visit her at least 2-3 times a year. Over the years, we also got to know her Greek friends.
One of them is a young woman in her early 30's. We have known Tenia from the very beginning. She has 3 children and has worked in hotels as a cook and chambermaid since she was 16. Her husband is a policeman on patrol duty.
She has now been diagnosed with glaucoma in both eyes. Her eyesight is also getting worse and she is worried that if it gets worse, she will no longer be able to look after her children, some of whom are still small.
According to the 5BN, it is: “A fear in the neck - a danger that cannot be faced.” = Fogging of backward vision with clouding of the vitreous humor.
Biological sense: Focusing forwards without having to constantly look backwards for the “predator”.
Her background: Since the 2008/2009 financial crisis, her husband's salary has been cut by around 40%. She herself, although already a minimum wage earner, has had to accept wage cuts and unemployment over the years. In Greece, the entire economy was completely shut down this year before Germany because of Corona, so that all hotels closed and are still closed today. She has a “robber” breathing down her neck who is now taking the last of her possessions. Am I right in my assessment?
Kind regards from Carsten
Note by Björn Eybl:
Thank you Carsten for your report.
I think you are right. In my experience, these fear-in-the-neck stories (vitreous humor) very often have to do with money. The real solution will not be easy for the woman, because tourism will certainly not pick up again so quickly. This will be a challenge for trust in God.
